In the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, our founder, a chef with a vision to rebuild, took to his kitchen. What emerged was a sustainably crafted spirit from the heart of the vibrant U.S. Virgin Islands, fueled by resilience and refined by a master distiller to deliver a taste that hits different: bold, smooth, and full of island vibes.

Breadfruit is one of the world's great superfoods. A single tree can feed a family of four for life, thrives across the tropics with little water or fuss, and shelters the land and people around it. We saw a spirit waiting inside it. Distilling Island Vodka from breadfruit gives us a luscious mouthfeel and flavor notes of citrus, melon, and green banana, with no additives, no gluten, and no shortcuts.

In 1789, the crew of the HMS Bounty famously mutinied. Few people remember what the Bounty was carrying: breadfruit, bound for the Caribbean. More than two centuries later, we're finishing the journey, turning tropical breadfruit into something worth raising a glass to. It took that same kind of nerve to make the world's first breadfruit spirit, and to make it sustainably, in a place still rebuilding. The name is our nod to that history, and to everyone bold enough to do things their own way.

Everything happens at our distillery in St. Croix, in the former home of the beloved Island Dairies Company. We start with tropical breadfruit, distill it in a copper still, blend it with pure Caribbean rainwater, and charcoal-filter it to a clean, silky finish.
